Katrina Kaif learns a few stunts for new movie

It’s now common knowledge that Zoya Akhtar’s next directorial venture features an ensemble cast comprising of Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin. The working title is reportedly Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. Meanwhile, the cast and crew seem to have already begun preparations for this project which goes on floors soon.

Katrina, for example, would be doing dirt bike riding and even deep-sea diving in the film. The actress even plans to undergo training in deep-sea diving very soon. And Kats is not the only one who is planning to learn deep sea diving. Abhay Deol too has begun his underwater training. Since the actor requires to do certain underwater sequences in the film, he thought it’s best to be trained for it.

Neha’s addicted to action flicks

Neha Dhupia seems to be quite a toughie at heart. Having already shown a penchant for action in her last few films, the actress is now self-admittedly addicted to action. So, when Neha got a chance to perform some stunts for the promos of an upcoming show, she refused to let them pass to a stunt double, insisting on doing even the risky stuff herself.
“Performing a stunt is absolutely thrilling and satisfying. I think it makes you realise that you can do and achieve anything that you give your 100 per cent to,” says Neha. About her co-star Akshay Kumar, who’s probably rubbed off his action streak on Neha, she adds, “I now understand why Akshay enjoys being the daredevil that he is. I totally relate to the adrenaline rush one gets while doing a stunt.”

‘Housefull will be the biggest hit of 2010′

Three years after the hugely successful Heyy Babyy, director Sajid Khan returns with another comedy, Housefull. Joining Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh (who also starred in Sajid’s debut film) in Sajid’s new caper are Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal, Jiah Khan Boman Irani, Randhir Kapoor and Chunkey Pandey. Sajid is very confident Housefull will screen to full houses. He tells Patcy N why. Excerpts: How did you get the idea of Housefull?
While we were celebrating the success of Heyy Babby and deciding what our next film should be, Milap Javeri –my screenplay writer on Heyy Babyy — shared something that had happened to him. On the last day of college, he proposed to his girlfriend with a ring. She not only returned it; she also broke up with him before driving off on another boy’s bike.

Milap was in love with her for two years. His heart broke when she rejected him. He started crying. The ring fell from his hand, he slipped on the ring and fell himself. His pant tore and a dog bit him. All this happened to him in the space of just five minutes.

I started laughing; I could easily imagine Akshay enacting such a scene. Milap said, ‘Kaminey mere saath itni badi tragedy hui hai aur tu has raha hai (You rascal, such a big tragedy happened in my life and you are laughing)’. But I thought the whole incident was very funny; in real life, you sometimes find humour in pathos. It was a sorrowful event — what happened with him was wrong but it was funny.

From that incident, we started developing the characters and a story — what if Akshay is the world’s biggest panvati (person plagued with ill-luck) and nothing in his life is ever good. Though he is a good man, everything bad happens to him. It took us 18-20 months to write the story and screenplay. Your first film Heyy Babyy was inspired from Three Men And A Baby and Rob-B-Hood

[Sarcastically] Have you seen Three Men and a Baby? What happened in that movie? Main chor hoon. Maine zindagi bhar sirf choriyaan ki hai (I’m a thief. All my life I have done nothing but steal). I have no original thought. I only plagiarise. I rob all the stories from world cinema. I rob stories and make films.

Whatever I am today is because I have robbed from others and made my name. Heyy Babby, the whole movie, was a copy. In fact, Housefull is also lifted from 50 movies — that is what you are trying to say and this is what you wanted to hear, right [laughs]? [Sarcastically] Rediff par dekhiya aaj Sajid Khan ka khulasa. Yeh openly admit kar rahe ki inhone chori ki hai (Sajid Khan exposed on rediff. He openly admits he has plagiarised). This is what you wanted to hear, right?

I give an open challenge to anyone, anywhere in the world. Take the DVDs of Heyy Babyy and Three Men and a Baby and Rob-B-Hood — which I have not seen till date because I am not a Jackie Chan fan, I stopped being his fan since the 80s because his cinema kept on going down and compare them.

Show me even one scene that is copied ditto — like Mahesh Bhattsaab did in his films and Sanjay Gupta did in his movies — shot-by-shot. If you show me even one scene, I will never make a film again. The scene diaper scene in Rob-B-Hood

There is a diaper scene in Three Men and a Baby? No in Rob-B-Hood, I said… I have not seen Rob-B-Hood till date. In which year was Rob-B-Hood released? Rob-B-Hood was released in October or November 2007 and, even if we think it was June, Heyy Babby released on August 24, 2007.

My whole making of the film is documented. I shot the diaper scene in February 2007 so did I enter Jackie Chan’s brain in Hong Kong and copy the scene (Bo Bui Gai Wak, also known as Rob-B-Hood, released on September 28, 2006).

I want to ask you a question. Which is the greatest Hindi film ever made? Sholay, Mughal-E-Azam Sholay. Right. Have you seen Magnificent Seven? Have you seen Seven Samurai? Have you seen Once Upon A time In The West?

Even if we think that one of your favourite film is Munnabhai MBBS, have you see Patch Adams [laughs]? Let me tell you a truth. We grew up on cinema. That doesn’t mean you copy the thoughts in your head. The English that you speak has been taught to you by somebody in school. Does that mean you are copying that person? No, right?

I have not seen Rob-B-Hood till date. Even if I have, I am not stupid. My name is Sajid Khan. Main doosre logo ka bhanda fodta hoon television par (I reveal other people’s secrets on television). Am I so stupid that I will copy a scene from some other film? I made television programmes for four years and showed how others copied. What is lacking today in most people is what is taking our nation down — common sense.

Kareena plays a Pakistani CIA spy in ‘Agent Vinod’

After doing everything in his capacity to keep his close-to-heart project ‘Agent Vinod’ under wraps, saucy scoops of information about producer cum actor Saif Ali Khan’s film are finally out.

As per the latest buzz, the details about Kareena’s role in the film that has been guarded secret until now are out.

And going by the reports, Bebo will be seen in a negative avatar of a Pakistani CIA agent and will reportedly sport five different looks in the flick.

The film is expected to go on floors in the next two weeks. Confirming the news, a source told a daily, “The first schedule will be in Mumbai.

Kareena plays a Pakistani CIA agent in the film, and sports five different looks a first for her. She will be wearing different looks with prosthetics.”

And the stunner is much too excited about her role. As per insiders, Bebo believes that the film will be an intelligent one. She calls it a very “Saif style” film.

Talking of Kareena’s role in the film, a source says, “Kareena`s character works for a bunch of corporate honchos who want to rake in the profits from.

A war-like scenario in the Asian subcontinent. But she is actually a spy for the Pakistani government.” But what’s interesting is that she and Saif are not romantically paired in the film.

Talking about the film, Kareena said, “I am very excited to be a part of Shriram`s film. It`s a great script. I am happy that Agent Vinod is starting soon. I am working on my various looks for the film. It`s something I haven`t attempted before.”

No `Lahore` in Pakistan

The most critically acclaimed Indian film of this season, ‘Lahore’ which releases globally on 19th March, 2010, has been denied a release in Pakistan.

The reason that the concerned authorities in Pakistan mention is the title of the film, which is being looked upon as creating hassles in the neighboring country.

In addition also a thought that all the Indian Films show Pakistan in a negative way, is the another reason that the film did not get the permission to be released in Pakistan.

Though director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan tried to take a step ahead in bringing down barriers and also taking a gutsy decision of naming his film to Lahore. But now it all seems to be going against him.

Produced by Sai Om Film Pvt. Ltd. and being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in India, Lahore stars a blend of talented vast like Farouque Shaikh, Nafisa Ali, Sushant Singh, Shraddha Nigam, Saurabh Shukla, Kelly Dorji, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Late Nirmal Pandey & Mukesh Rishi.The film also marks the Debut of Aanaahad & Shraddha Das in the lead pair.

Undergoing a huge disappointment, the Producer of the film Vivek Khatkar of Sai Om Film Pvt Ltd. annoyingly quips- “ Our film doesn’t have anything in negative about Pakistan, infact it really has some good sides of the other nation, which I believe has never been shown in our Indian films before.

The name of our film is ‘Lahore’ because the climax of our film is set in Lahore, and we have no intentions of hurting anyone’s sentiments. “I can understand the apprehensions that the concerned authorities ofPakistan have, but I can only say that we have made an International film and not just another Indian film, only the language of the film is Hindi.

It is sports based film and on general issues, which can be between any two nations and not only India-Pakistan but the actual hero of the film is the emotions of a family and not that of just countries. “Well, I am quite surprised and hurt but only hoping that we can release our film inPakistan , because I want everyone to see this film around the globe and take away some memories of a film of a lifetime. Rest, the time will tell.”

The story of ‘Lahore’ is about Veerender Singh from India, played by debutant Aanaahad, who is living with an aspiration to quench the thirst of revenge for a long forgotten wrong doing and restore the lost pride. He has to satisfy the nation and a billion. Though he is a sportsperson, who has to win theKickboxing Tournament for his nation, but more than this sport, is a vengeance mounting deep somewhere in his heart which is much bigger than any victory.

Will he be able to retain the pride of his country as well as fulfill his wish and retaliate back for one ill event that changed his life forever? Is what is to be seen. ‘Lahore’ is being looked upon as the most authentic sports film ever made in India and despite ofthe film being shot in Pakistan itself, it hasn’t got a nod from the neighbors.

Well, as the tag line of the film says, “Beyond borders, between Nations lies a battle to end all wars”, what is to be seen now is that will the film end all the wars or will it indulge itlsef in to a political and debatable war which might do a financial damage to the film and its makers!

Love Sex Aur Dhokha – Movie Preview

After having earned critical acclaim for Khosla Ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, director Dibakar Banerjee maps a new terrain with his bold film Love, Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD), which highlights voyeurism in society.

A digital film with a hidden camera playing a character by itself, Love, Sex Aur Dhokha features a bunch of newcomers with no mainstream trappings to it.

But sex and voyeurism constitute a major driving force of the narrative. The movie releases on March 19, 2010. “Voyeurism is what the whole society finds itself trapped in and this is.

The reality that I wish to bring through my film,” Banerjee said. A co-production of Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Priya Sreedharan.

It is a small-budget movie that will release across 350 screens in India. Unlike other Bollywood films, it won’t have an international release.

It stars debutants Anshuman Jha, Shruti, Raj Kumar Yadav, Neha Chauhan, Amit Sial, Arya and Herry Tangdi. “We are not releasing.

Love Sex Aur Dhokha internationally because the recovery for small movies is not possible outside. We plan to take it to festivals instead,” Sunny Khanna, senior vice president of Balaji Motion Pictures, said.

Love, Sex Aur Dhokha takes a look into three stories unfolding across and weaving through each other. The first story goes like this – in a second ratefilm institute in north India, a final year student gears up for his diploma film. In pristine tackiness, with an amateur small town cast, Rahul starts etching out the themes of star-studded Bollywood love in his magnum opus and then falls in love with his heroine.

Somewhere in the same city, Adarsh, a tech savvy security camera agency executive installs four security cameras in a 24-hour departmental store with the idea of making a porn clip. He starts to woo Rashmi, a simple salesgirl, when suddenly a shootout happens in the store and she saves a life. For the first time, Adarsh notices a woman in her.

In another corner of the city, Prabhat, a sting journalist teeters on the brink of total meltdown. Going through a divorce and about to be fired from his job, he attempts a series of failed suicides. And then he meets Naina, who is also trying to commit suicide. Naina had been promised a music video by a reigning Bhangra Hip Hop star who slept with her in exchange for the offer, but the video finally went to a Russian blonde.

Prabhat and Naina come closer over a series of attempts to seduce, blackmail and threaten the hip hop star. They plan the final sting to catch the star on tape admitting his follies. Despite its bold subject, Banerjee is not worried about the reaction of audiences and critics.

“If you don’t like the title and think that it may not have the content that would be appropriate for you, then don’t watch Love, Sex Aur Dhokha. I know there is an audience waiting for the film and it is that segment which wants to call a spade a spade. In any case, the film isn’t designed for those who wish to escape from the realities of life,” he said. The music track of the album has also sparked controversy for its crude lyrics.

Deepika doesn’t believe in size zero

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is blessed with a good figure, says she does not believe in being size zero as the Indian body type is not meant for it. ”

Correct me if I am wrong, but I personally feel that the Indian body type is not cut out to be size zero. I am not size zero and I don’t believe in that either,” Deepika told IANS.

“I believe that it’s nice to be little full and have a nice shape,” she added. The Bollywood actress was the show stopper for designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil’s show at the Lakme Fashion Week here Sunday.

According to Deepika, an actress gets a role for her performance and not the body type. “In the (film) industry, body size doesn’t matter.

What matters is how much an actor contributes through his performance and not his body size,” explained Deepika.

“It is important that every person should wear clothes that go with their body – the cut, the fabric make a lot of difference,” she added.

Kats can’t hold anymore to romance Ranbir Kapoor
