Raajneeti brings Ranbir-Katrina together again

The competitive spirit has taken over Raajneeti in a big way. Both Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif see the film as a passport to the National awards. With stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpai, Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgn in the cast, the young stars of the show have decided to pull out all stops to ensure their performances are noticed at the right places.
“Katrina and Ranbir have surrendered themselves completely to the project and will do whatever is required” says Prakash Jha, the director of Raajneeti.

Priyanka Chopra’s Twitter obsession has been curbed. And it’s all owing to her latest film producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

Who has banned the actress from posting any kind of information on the social networking site.

So while most filmmakers are still looking for ways to approach their actors on the issue, Nadiadwala has taken stringent steps to assure.

That no member of the cast or the crew will leak any kind of details about his project ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ on any networking site.

The producer took the strict decision after he saw a constant inflow of pictures and information being put up on the said site.

And with his both lead actors Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor being active users of the site, Sajid had little choice but to impose his will.

Confirming the news, Sajid told a daily, “I actually took the decision to forbid my cast and crew from putting any information.

On websites after an incident that happened with Sajid Khan, my director of ‘Housefull’. We were doing a photo-session with the film’s stars.

We weren’t even finished and Sajid Khan had already put one of the pictures on the site. I was horrified. That’s when I decided it was time to make the confidentiality clause a legal issue in all my contracts.” Regretting the lack of privacy among stars, Sajid further added, “I remember when my father produced JP Dutta’s Ghulami, we’d stand outside Dharmendra’s van for hours waiting for him to emerge so we could see what he wore, how he styled his hair, what watch he had on, etc.

Today the stars volunteer all this information on the social networks even before the director takes his first shot. I think all of us need to make confidentiality compulsory for every film.” Well, looks like Piggy Chops will have all work and no play on this one!

Sunset always makes me pensive and the further I am from home, (I’m shooting.

In Australia at the moment), the more potent and overpowering is its effect on my mood.

My thoughts and very recently my words ever since I’ve started writing this column.

There are people who romanticise sunset and turn it into the lover in whose arms they can spend.

The beginning of darkness; there are others that term sunset as one of the most beautiful sights nature has bestowed upon us.

Beautiful it sure is, but a sunset is also Mother Nature’s very own double-edged sword.

Every sunset is a glaring reminder of things that come to an end. One day less to work harder to achieve my dreams.

One day less to enjoy the excitement of a new city, one day less to devour good food.

One day less to hear my mom say “I Love You” to me, one day less in the game of life.

The sunset helps you forget the day’s pains and start anew its the bearer of eternal hope.

It is interesting how everything that we do during the day transforms itself into a memory and how strange it is that with the rising sun, memories resurface. But for me, it is always the sun disappearing into the horizon that makes me remember things.

It is always at sunset that I find myself connecting with myself. A sunset triggers in me a memory that either makes me smile wistfully or makes me nostalgic. It makes me tell myself, “If only for a day…”, and depending on whether it is a memory of something good or something bad, I feel this desire to either relive that day again and undo what I did wrong.

Sunsets make me feel responsible for the past that shaped my present and my present that is sculpting my future. I remember as a little girl, my mom would often tell me to make a wish upon the setting sun. Wishes made upon the setting sun come true it is said.

So today, as I look at the setting sun from my window, I think of all the things that I wish to be and my eyes close on that thought…I smile…I wish…I wish upon a wish-bearer — the fading sun — that at this minute is observed by millions of people, but at the same time is giving me my very own moment of peace, love and hope for tomorrow.

Sonam Kapoor wants to see the birds fly, not the kites

Bollywood’s noted actress Sonam Kapoor (daughter of veteran Anil Kapoor) is wishful of gazing at the sky dotted with hundreds of joyous birds.

She isn’t against the flying of kites, but is aware of the naked truth that the fun-loving game of kite-flying often spells death for these innocent residents of the heaven.

And so the concerned ‘Saawariya’ actress has requested the Home Minister RR Patil to issue a ban.

On the manufacture of glass-coated strings (locally termed as ‘manja’) that the kite runners use to float their kites.

These strings are responsible for killing of many a harmless and beautiful bird who get entrapped.

And entangled in these deadly threads and meet a painful death. Sonam, in a letter to Mr. Patil writes.

I humbly request your support for the recent ban on ‘manja’ in Mumbai as well as your immediate action to extend the ban throughout Maharashtra.

The use of ‘manja’ may be amusing for some, but for many families – human and bird alike – whose loved ones lose their lives, it is a situation that can be definitely prevented.”

Hopefully, the officials would pay heed to the matter and let the birds enjoy their flight with fearlessness and liberty. And Sonam would, surely, be humming ‘Masakali Masakali’ from her film Delhi 6 where she plays with a white pigeon……

Bollywood’s boldest sex scene ever?

Ekta Kapoor’s next release, Love Sex Aur Dhokha directed by Dibakar Banerjee is a path-breaking film in many ways. It’s meant to shock and outrage. And though the film transmits that in every thread, the most scandalous part of the film is the sex scene between two actors. The scene comes in the second story Paap Ki Dukaan. It is the most shocking scene to be ever filmed in a commercial Hindi film.
Never before have two protagonists stripped down completely. But the nudity in the scene is not even remotely aimed to titillate. If anything, it is gag-inducing, guaranteed to repel you. Like the rape scene filmed on Monica Bellucci in Irreversible. Dibakar Banerjee isn’t happy, “I would like to state on record that I am not comfortable about the picture coming out.

I want the scene to be judged as part of the film. To use the picture out of context will be damaging to the film. The idea is not to draw vicarious pleasure from it. The scene comes after you have lived with the character for 30 minutes.

The story makes you live through the dilemma of the character and how they realise that they have done something they can never undo. It’s tragic. I would advise the people who go to watchthe film to not go for the nude scene as they will not get what they want.”

Ekta Kapoor, Producer, echoes her director’s thoughts, “The purpose of the nude scene is not to titillate. The scene is part of a story that deals with a MMS scandal and establishes loss of face and faith after the act. The scene is so stark and shot so realistically that at the end of the story, women will feel upset, men scared. When you love someone, you are uninhibited but when that person takes advantage of that, it’s disgusting!”

Never mind the controversy surrounding her weight when Salman Khan starrer Veer was releasing.

Zarine Khan was candid enough to admit that there was a point when she used to weigh more than one hundred kilos.

But Zarine, we hear, is aiming to touch Kareena Kapoor’s weight.Salman’s girl has hit the gym with a vengeance and.

She is not only going got daily work-outs, Zarine has opted for a combination of everything that she could have done.

“I am going for workouts for six days a week. I let my muscles recover on a Sunday. I have become very regular with my work-outs.

And try not to miss even one day whatever are be my engagements for the day,” she says. Not only this.

Zarine has hired three separate trainers for every kinds of training she does in the morning. “My workout regime.

Includes Pilates for an hour every morning with Yasmine Karachiwala. I do weight training thrice a week on alternate days again with Yasmine.

I do Bootcamping thrice a week on alternate days with Ajit Mohite. The days I feel very tired to do a bootcamp.

I make sure I do some kind of cardio exercises like brisk walking, swimming , jogging etc.,” says the actor.

Though Zarine is reading a lot of scripts, she says that she hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet. “I am reading a few scripts and some of them are really good also. But I haven’t made my mind up on what would be my next film. I will surely let you know when I freeze on something,” she ends with a smile.

It happened right in front of us in a bid to duck the crowd who had gathered around.

Her vanity van last week Jacqueline Fernandez’s mobile slipped out of her hands.

And before she could recover it, the device was already broken into bits.“Let that go.

It’s already beyond repair. It’s better that I get a new set for myself,” says the former Miss Sri Lanka as we sat down in her vanity van for an interview.

As the actor started talking about her upcoming film by Sajid Nadiadwala, we deflected.

The topic towards Sri Lanka where. The film industry has almost ceased to exist because of the continuous tension.

“Now that the tension has eased a little bit and the situation there is slowly returning to normal.

I am sure that we should be able to revive the film industry there. As much as I want to be a part of Bollywood, I also want the film industry.

In Sri Lanka to stand back on its feet and make world-class movies,” she says.

So, is she willing to go to Sri Lanka and act in a few movies there considering the fact that she has already got a little bit of a grounding in Bollywood?

“Why not? There are so many filmmakers there like, say, a Vimukhti Jayasundara. I would love to work in a film made by these immensely talented film-makers,” Jacqueline adds. The pretty lass says that she has already got a home in Mumbai and she considers her as a Mumbaikar now.

“Though I am Miss Sri Lanka and I grew up in London, I feel that I have started to feel like a Mumbaikar. I have got 54 pairs of sarees now and I am wearing them at events too. Mumbai feels like my city. It seems odd to me when somebody tells me that I am not from the city. It feels that I have always been here,” she ends.
